Abandoned Train Station – UE5 Environment Study

This scene tells the story of a long-abandoned train station overtaken by nature and time. From the derailed cars to the tangled cables and thick overgrowth, I focused on environmental storytelling, lighting, and material blending to convey a strong post-apocalyptic tone. I also added a custom-designed character/machine to hint at a larger world—one filled with decayed infrastructure, mysterious technology, and hidden conflict. All assets used in this project were free and not created by me; my focus was on composition, scene building, and visual storytelling using available resources.

I started by setting up the basic elements of the scene, including terrain, lighting and props.

Then, I added vegetation such as flowers to bring the environment to life.

Next, I created a custom mesh actor by combining different types of vegetation, which helped give the environment a unique and natural look.

After that, I placed props to add more detail and depth.

Once all these elements were combined—custom mesh, vegetation, and props—I was able to achieve a more immersive and visually appealing environment.

I then added particle effects such as fire to enhance the atmosphere.
